It's 3 a.m. here in Milan, Italy, and I'm wide-awake, jet lagged. Today is the first day of the Milano Unica show, where fabric mills and trim suppliers show their latest collections to the designers and merchandisers of the world. We are here looking at the fall 2015 collections, and this is where the creative process starts.
I already have ideas in my head about what I want to do for Fall 15, but I may see things at the show that will take me in a completely different direction. You just never know. One of the fun things about these shows is that I get to see friends in the industry from all over the world.
Milan is a famously stylish city, and when I'm not browsing the fabric collections at the show, I walk the stores or sit at a sidewalk cafe to watch the people go by. My best inspiration usually comes off the streets of Europe; so, I usually have little sketchpad in hand.
After the Milan show, there is another one in Paris next week called Premiere Vision. We will spend the weekend in London, my favorite shopping city in the world. Check back here for more postcards from Europe.
